We calculated these numbers by averaging rates for 40-year-old good drivers who have only the minimum mandatory insurance in their state. Such light coverage isn't typically recommended, since it might not cover all the bills resulting from a car accident, but it's better than nothing — especially if you can't afford much more.

Minimum auto insurance limits required in Utah
Utah is a no-fault state; motorists must carry liability insurance and personal injury protection (PIP) in at least the following amounts:

$25,000 bodily injury liability coverage per person.
$65,000 bodily injury liability coverage per accident.
$15,000 property damage liability coverage per accident.
$3,000 PIP.
Although this will be enough to drive legally, the bare minimum car insurance might not be enough to pay costs if you cause a severe crash. For instance, if you total another driver’s vehicle, the repair bill could easily exceed $15,000. Whatever your policy doesn’t cover would have to come out of your own pocket.
